The lagoon and Glenorchy Walkway
The Glenorchy Walkway takes 1 to 2 hours and is described as easy to intermediate. Reach the signed entrance at the northern end of town via Mull Street and the lake. Do not use the Glenorchy-Paradise Road for access or parking. That distinction matters when a map makes a roadside approach appear convenient: use the designated town-side approach instead.

Food and drinks are extra. The base is at 45 Mull Street in Glenorchy, with check-in 15 minutes before the booked time. Pets are not allowed in Mount Aspiring National Park, including Sylvan Campsite and Routeburn Shelter. Drone use on public conservation land requires permission. Near the lake head, water can be very cold and river mouths have strong currents; a scenic waterside stop should not become an unplanned swim.
