Lake departure and the river combination

The one-hour combination departs from Main Town Pier on Marine Parade in Queenstown. It includes the jet boat ride and a safety briefing. Photographs and videos are available to buy separately. This is a combined lake, Shotover and Kawarau itinerary, so choose it for that route rather than expecting a sightseeing-only lake cruise.

Participation conditions for the combination

For the one-hour combination from Main Town Pier, the operator’s child category is five to fourteen years. Toddlers aged two to four travel with one adult per toddler and must have a life jacket that fits. Staff decide whether a child sits independently or on an adult’s lap. Those are conditions for this particular product, not an age policy for other jet experiences.

Pregnancy excludes participation in this combination. Health or physical restrictions need to be disclosed to the team in advance. The operator does not give a fixed height or weight limit for this product; fitting the supplied life jacket matters. Do not use that description to judge the separate short jet experience or a Dart River trip.

Allow time to listen to the safety briefing and follow the crew’s instructions. Weather affects operations, so treat a planned departure as part of an outdoor day with room for changes. Dart River departures are based in Glenorchy

The Dart River offers a different jet experience at the lake head. Its base is in Glenorchy, and Queenstown transport belongs only to the selected transfer option. Wilderness Jet requires a minimum age of 3 and a minimum height of 100 cm, rising to 120 cm depending on river conditions. A lifejacket up to size 2XL must fit. Pregnancy excludes participation. Check suitability before booking if you have a medical condition, including a back or neck injury. Participation under the influence of alcohol or drugs is prohibited. If driving towards Glenorchy, allow at least an hour each way including opportunities for photographs, and check road conditions before leaving. The Dart Funyak activity uses inflatable canoes on the river. It is a separate paddling experience, so choose it when that river activity is what you want rather than as a substitute for kayaking on the lake.
