Scenic cruises from central Queenstown

The scenic lake cruise lasts 90 minutes and includes live commentary from the captain, with indoor and outdoor seating. Its central departure is at 50 Beach Street. The onboard bar sells drinks separately, so choose it for the boat journey and commentary rather than an included meal.

This is a straightforward choice when the lake itself is the focus. You can keep the rest of the day in Queenstown or build in a separate shore walk, allowing for the departure time. Walter Peak

For a crossing with an activity ashore, the Walter Peak farm tour includes a nature guide, the farm visit and morning or afternoon tea. The selected option determines the vessel. The BBQ programme includes lunch or dinner, a farm demonstration, the return crossing and onboard commentary; drinks are extra. Both programmes are listed at 3.5 hours. Choose between them according to the shore activity and meal you want, rather than treating a farm programme as the same purchase as a sightseeing-only cruise.

Fishing and the Dart River

The guided fishing trip starts at Frankton Marina and lasts three hours. It includes fishing gear, snacks and cold non-alcoholic drinks. A fishing licence and transport to the lake are additional. A catch can be kept within local limits and is cleaned and vacuum packed, with the outcome depending on the fishing. The Dart River jet experience is based in Glenorchy. Its detailed duration is two to four hours, depending on the option, and return transport from Queenstown is included only when that option is selected. Wilderness Jet requires a minimum age of 3 and a minimum height of 100 cm, rising to 120 cm depending on river conditions. A lifejacket up to size 2XL must fit. Pregnancy excludes participation. Check suitability before booking if you have a medical condition, including a back or neck injury. Participation under the influence of alcohol or drugs is prohibited. Film locations and a road-based day

The half-day film-location outing uses a six-seat 4WD vehicle and starts at 37 Shotover Street. It lasts 4.25 hours, with a local driver-guide, English commentary, replica props for photographs and refreshments including tea, coffee, hot chocolate, banana cake and biscuits. The vehicle size describes the transport; choose a specifically private product if exclusivity is your requirement.
